LMS Spring Sports Season Schedule

 
LAKESHORE LADIES SOCCER TEAM OPENS THE SEASON WITH A CONVINCING WIN OVER A TOUGH TEAM FROM OWIB
 
Yesterday your women’s soccer team opened their season at 
home against the Nighthawks from  Oakwood IB. The Lakers
came out taking control of the game early and never let up with a 7-0 victory.
The defensive effort of Julia Wetzel, Avery Ray, Kaitlyn Halbedel,
Riley Parker, and Natalie Grizzard not allowong a single shot from  
the Nighthawks all game, giving keeper Mackenzie Roland her first 
shutout.  Offensively, Leighton Lowrie led the charge scoring her
first hat trick of the season and adding an assist on top of the 3 goals. Berkley Rehrer also contributed 2 goals along with goals scored by Claire Zimmerman and Riley Parker.  Grace “Mickey” Emery also chalked up an assist to finish out the scoring.  The Lakers have a few days to prepare for their cross town rivals WHMS next Monday.
 

LAKESHORE TAKES DOWN CROSS TOWN RIVAL WHMS

Yesterday your Lady Lakers traveled across town to take on their rivals, the Braves from Woodland Heights.  The hard fought game ended in a 1-1 tie after Leighton Lowrie scored from outside the 18 on a misplaced punt by the Braves keeper.
Going into overtime the Lakers and Braves fought to a standstill.
The game then went into penalty kicks and the Lakers showed their stuff. Lowrie again started off the scoring by notching the first kick, then switching to the keeper position she was able to stop the Braves first attempt. This ended up being the difference in the game as Berkley Rehrer and Claire Zimmerman both successfully
connected with their PK’s sending the Lakers to their second win of the season.   Solid defensive efforts were turned in by Keeper Mackenzie Roland, center backs Riley Parker,
and Kaitlyn Halbedel along with left back Julia Wetzel.
The Lakers are off till next Wednesday when they travel to Lowes YMCA to take on the Phoenix from Brawley IB.
 

LAKESHORE LADY LAKERS SECURE THE THIRD WIN OF THE SEASON

Yesterday your Lady Lakers hosted the Mustangs from West Iredell Middle School. The Lakers started out connecting on all cylinders and ran away with a 7 to 0 victory.  The Lakers keeper Mackenzie Roland recorded her second shut out of the
season with the help of a starting solid back line of Julia Wetzel, Avery Ray, Kaitlyn Halbedel, and Rylie Parker along with holding midfielder Natalie Grizzard.  Offensively the Lakers
balanced scoring attack kept the Mustangs guessing all game.
Scoring for the Lakers were Claire Zimmerman, Berkley Rehrer, Avery Ray, Paige Volpe,  Natalie Grizzard, Leighton Lowrie, and Riley Parker.  Grace Emery also notched 3 assists,
and Lowrie contributed one.
The Lakers next game is Monday at Lakeshore vs the Knights of East Iredell Middle.

 

LAKESHORE WINS 4TH GAME OF THE SEASON AGAINST A GOOD KNIGHTS TEAM FROM EIMS

Yesterday your lady Lakers took to the pitch to take on the knights from East Iredell Middle School.  The Lakers came out on fire and never cooled off while heading to a 7-0 victory. Once again the Lakers were led by a solid defensive effort with back line
play by a multitude of players. Keepers, Mackenzie Roland, Grace Emery, Kaitlyn Halbedel and Claire Zimmerman all contributed to notching the Lakers third shutout of the season.
Offensively the Lakers were led by Leighton Lowrie and Berkley Rehrer with 2 goals each. Grace Emery, Paige Volpe, and Kaitlyn Halbedel all tallied scores. Rehrer , Emery and Volpe also all contributed assists for the win. The Lakers travel to Statesville Soccer Complex on Wednesday to take on the Knighthawks
from Oakwood IB.
 

LAKESHORE WINS AGAINST THE KNIGHTHAWKS FROM OWIB

Yesterday your Lady Lakers Soccer Team traveled to Statesville to take on the Knighthawks from Oakwood IB.  The Lakers came away with a 3-0 victory for their 4th shutout of the season. Once again the defensive back line of Paige Volpe, Natalie Grizzard,
Kaitlyn Halbedel and Julia Wetzel held the Knighthawks to just one shot for the entire game.
Offensively the Lakers balanced attack kept the Knighthawks defending for the majority of the game. Prescilla McCracken, Grace Emery and Kaitlyn Halbedel all scored for the Lakers. Emery, Halbedel and Riley Parker notched assists in the effort.
The Lakers return to action Monday in a home game vs TCMS.
 

LAKESHORE’S LADY LAKERS WIN AGAINST THE BULLDOGS FROM TCMS

Yesterday your Lady Lakers Soccer Team took on the Bulldogs from Third Creek Middle School in a home match at Lakeshore.  The Lakers came away with a 7-0 victory.  The Lakers came out on fire and did not let up. Notching her 5th shut out of the season keeper Mackenzie Roland and the Laker back line of Kaitlyn Halbedel, Julia Wetzel, Paige Volpe and Natalie Grizzard and holding middie  Riley Parker, allowed the Bulldogs no shots on goal.  Offensively the Lakers were led by Berkley Rehrer with 2 goals and an assist. Claire Zimmerman, and Prescilla McCracken also added a goal to the scoresheet. Scoring for the first time this season were Caroline Paul, and Kaylee Fonseca and 
defender Julia Wetzel.  The Lakers return to the pitch today as they travel to Lowe’s YMCA to take on the Phoenix from Brawley IB.

LAKESHORE’S LADY LAKERS TAKE DOWN A VERY TOUGH BIB TEAM

 

Yesterday your Lady Lakers soccer team traveled across town to take on the Phoenix from Brawley IB in a preseason postponed match up. The teams came out challenging each other on every possession. The Lakers took a 1-0 lead into the half and then pulled away in the second for a 4-0 victory over a tough BIB team. Mackenzie Roland secured her 6th shutout of the season with the help of the solid performance from their back line of Julia Wetzel, Avery Ray, Kaitlyn Halbedel, Riley Parker and holding middie
Natalie Grizzard.  Roland made two awesome saves from point blank shots to turn the Phoenix away.  Offensively, Leighton Lowrie scored 2 goals, one off a beautiful corner by Ray, heading the ball into the net.  Grace Emery scored the third goal sending the ball off a phoenix defender and into the goal, while Riley Parker’s
20 + yard shot from distance cleared the outstretched hands of the Phoenix’s keeper. Claire Zimmerman and Avery Ray both notched assists in the win. The victory was  total  team effort with excellent ball control play from Paige Volpe, and Berkley Rehrer.
The Lakers next opponent is this Thursday as they travel into Mustang country to  take on West Iredell Middle.
