LAKESHORE’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM TAKES TO THE ROAD IN THEIR FIRST PRESEASON MEET AND RESULTS SHOW PROMISE

The Lakeshore Cross-Country team traveled to Watauga High School in Boone, North Carolina this past Saturday for the Pioneer Clash of Classes. The Laker Girls ran strong and finished 2nd in the Meet with Claire Zimmerman racing to a blistering time of 12:59 to finish 2nd overall in an extremely competitive race featuring some of the top Middle School runners in the state of North Carolina. Prescilla McCracken, Grace Emery, Riley Parker, and Brooke Stephens placed in 12th, 15th, 16th, and 17th respectively. From the top of the roster all the Lady Lakers ran a great race with many setting Personal Bests on a winding and hilly course. 
 
On the Boys’ side the Lakers ran away in the Team Event with Nathaniel Ingram, Oliver Nelson, Cody Camp, and Scotty Camp finishing 4th through 7th place. Paxton Lawver finished in 12th to give the Lakers a commanding result. In total, Lakeshore had 10 of the Top 25 runners in the race with Landyn Lee, Blake Upchurch, Alejandro Garcia, Eli VanWormer, and Ashton Crawford running outstanding races. Again Personal Bests were achieved throughout the roster with many runners on both the Girls and Boys taking part in their first race ever. 
 

The team is back to work today in order to prepare for the home Meet on Wednesday against arch-rival Brawley, along with East Iredell and Troutman. Admission for the event is only $1.00. Come out and support your Running Lakers!!!!

LAKESHORE RUNNERS OPEN THE SEASON IN FINE FASHION TAKING FIRST PLACE IN THE GIRLS AND THE BOYS EVENTS !

The Running Lakers opened their regular season schedule in spectacular fashion yesterday on their home course. In the first race, The Boys Team dominated the race and took 1st place in the Team Category. Leading the way was Nathaniel Ingram with a blazing time of 12:28, finishing just 3/10th of a second behind the race winner after an exciting sprint to the finish that saw Ingram track down the leader and almost pass him. The Lakers controlled the Top 10 with Scott and Cody Camp, Paxton Lawver, Tyler Honig, and Oliver Nelson finishing 5th-9th. Blake Upchurch ran an outstanding race and finished in 11th. Alejandro Garcia, Landyn Lee,  Eli VanWormer, Micah Bhatt, and Michael Mikulicz ran strong races for the Lakers.
 
On the Girls side, it was the Claire Zimmerman Show as she ran away from the competition and won the race by a 2-minute,10-second margin over the second-place runner. In doing so, Claire also set the Course Record at Lakeshore for Girls with a time of 12:50. Not to be outdone, the rest of the Girls’ Team ran incredibly impressive races with Stella Salazar, Riley Parker, Lacey Harris, Brooke Stephens, Grace Emery, Berkley Rehrer, Paige Volpe, and Amber Benet helping the Lady Lakers take 9 of the Top 11 positions in order to secure a dominant win for the team. Prescilla McCracken, Kylie Halcomb, and Teagan Jester also ran great races for the team.
 
Big shout-outs to Loghan Curley and Addison Bauernfeind for incredible efforts on the course and showing true grit and determination.
 
The Lakers are back at it today in order to get ready for next week’s event at the Statesville Soccer Complex on Wednesday, August 30. 

 

LAKESHORE GIRLS TAKE FIRST AND BOYS FINISH A CLOSE SECOND UNDER ADVERSE CONDITIONS

The Lakers traveled to MacAnderson Park to compete against Brawley IB, Oakwood IB, West Iredell, and Third Creek Middle yesterday afternoon. With temperatures hovering around 90 degrees and a difficult race course in front of them, a less-than-full-strength Boys team fell just short in the team category by 2 points in a fantastic race featuring blazing fast times. Nathaniel Ingram led the team by finishing 4th overall with a time of 12:14. Cody Camp, Oliver Nelson, and Tyler Honig finished 6th through 8th. Scott Camp came in at 11th and Blake Upchurch crossed the line in 16th. 
 
In the Girls race, Claire Zimmerman once again ran away with the race finishing with a red-hot time of 12:44, beating her previous best on the MacAnderson course by almost 30 seconds. Stella Salazar ran an unbelievable second mile to pull away from the rest of the field and crossed the line in 2nd place overall. Lacey Harris finished fifth, followed by Riley Parker, Berkley Rehrer, Grace Emery, and Brooke Stephens in 8th through 11th places to secure the Girls Team victory. Prescilla McCracken, Paige Volpe, and Amber Benet also ran outstanding races to help the Lakers put some distance between them and 2nd-place Brawley.
 
Special Coach’s Shout-Outs go to Landyn Lee, who knocked almost 2 minutes off his Personal Best and Teagan Jester, who bested her PB by over 1 minute. Great job by the whole team as the individual times continue to get faster. 
 
The LRunning Lakers are back to work today to prepare for an out-of-district race at Friday Night Lights in Kernersville, NC against some of the top Middle School teams in North Carolina.

 

LAKESHORE RETURNS TO WINNING FASHION SWEEPING BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS AT EIMS

The Lakers returned to action at East Iredell Middle School against East, Oakwood IB, and North Iredell. The Boys ran first and completed a sweep of the Top 5 spots for a perfect team score of 15 points. Nathaniel Ingram paced the field with a time of 11:28 to win the race. Scott Camp, Tyler Honig, Cody Camp, and Oliver Nelson finished 2nd-through 5th, crossing the finish line in a pack just 2 seconds behind Ingram. Paxton Lawver finished 7th, Eli VanWormer and Blake Upchurch finished in 12th and 13th overall giving the Lakers eight of the top 13 spots in the race, a dominant performance.
 
On the Girls’ side, Claire Zimmerman led the Lady Lakers to a sweep of the event crossing the line in 12:06. Stella Salazar finished 2nd, and Brooke Stephens, Lacey Harris, Riley Parker, and Grace Emery finished 4th through 7th to secure the team win. Amber Benet crossed the line in 9th, and Paige Volpe and Kylie Halcomb finished 12th and 13th to give the Lakers nine of the top 12 runners.
 
Special Coaches Shout-outs to Alex Short, Thomas Nervegna, and Lillian McNiff for outstanding races yesterday. Also, a special-special shout-out to Loghan Curley for not only running his best race yet, but also encouraging other runners as he competed. Loghan truly embodies what it means to be a Laker. We are lucky to have a teammate like The Diesel on our team!!!!
 
The Lakers are running at the Hare & Hounds XC Invitational on Saturday in Charlotte, and then back to practice on Tuesday in order to prepare for next week’s Meet, again at East Iredell. Coach Clark says to enjoy your rest day today, Team. You earned it!!!

 

Lakeshore competes in Charlotte invitational

The Running Lakers took the course at McAlpine Park in Charlotte this past Saturday in the Hare & Hounds XC Invitational. Running against an elite field of over 300 runners, the Laker Boys placed 3rd in the Team Competition with Nathaniel Ingram finishing 23rd overall with a time of 11:07. Tyle Honig crossed the line in 29th with a time of 11:21. Oliver Nelson, Landyn Lee, Alejandro Garcia, and Brayden Brown also ran blazing times for the Lakers on a track that was in less-than-ideal conditions due to the morning rain on Saturday.
 
On the girls’ side, Claire Zimmerman placed in the Top 10 by finishing 8th with a time of 11:17. Rielly Parker ran a fantastic race with a time of 12:58. Grace Emery, Kylie Halcomb, Teagan Jester, and Catelyn Clark rounded out the Top 6 for the Lakers. Jocelyn Diaz and Addison Bauernfeind also ran extremely strong races and set Personal Bests in the process. Overall, the Girls finished 5th in the Team Competition against 22 teams in total.

LAKESHORE COMPLETES THE SWEEP WITH BOYS AND GIRLS FINISHING IN THE TOP SPOT

The Running Lakers returned to East Iredell Middle School to face Woodland Heights and the host Knights from East. The Boys started first and controlled the pace from the beginning. While the top 23 runners all finished within 20 seconds of the lead, the Lakers were able to take 6 of the top 7 spots to secure the Team victory. Nathaniel Ingram once again paced the field with a time of 11:03. Ingram was barely able to fend off a charging Oliver Nelson by just .16 seconds. The Camp Boys, Scotty and Cody, were next across the line, followed by Tyler Honig and Paxton Lawver. Blake Upchurch, Thomas Nervegna, and Eli VanWormer finished in the Top 13. Excellent runs were also turned in by CJ Ball, Mikey Mikulicz, and Brayden Brown.
 
The Girls race saw Nationally-ranked Claire Zimmerman leave the field and cruise to another win with a scorching time of 11:23. Stella Salazar beat out a pair of Woodland Heights runners to take second overall. Brooke Stephens, Lacey Harris, and Grace Emery finished 4-7 in order to guarantee the Team win. Reilly Parker, Amber Benet, and Brekley Rehrer all finished before the fifth Braves’ runner to create a comfortable margin for the team. Personal Bests were recorded throughout the team with Teagan Jester, Lillian McNiff, Addison Vollrath, and Illiany Rodriquez running great races.
 
Special Coaches Shoutouts go to Kindra Reed and Finn Smith for running outstanding races after putting in impressive efforts in practice this week. 
 
The Lakers next Meet is at home on Wednesday, October 11. Come out and watch your Lakers face Woodland Heights, East, North, and Third Creek to see who can conquer Will-Breaker Hill!!!

LAKESHORE COMPLETES THE REGULAR SEASON IN FINE FASHION ! DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP MEET IS NEXT FOR THE RUNNING LAKERS !

The Lakers returned to their home course yesterday to wrap up the Regular Season by hosting Woodland Heights, North Iredell, and Third Creek. The Boys got things going in style by running away with the Team Standings by taking 7 of the top 9 spots. The Lakers were led by Nathaniel Ingram, who won his third race of the season; Cody Camp, Scotty Camp, and Paxton Lawver, who set a Personal Best with a time of 12:40. Tyler Honig, Oliver Nelson, and Blake Upchurch rounded out the runners that earned team points. Excellent races were also turned in by Micah Bhatt, Landyn Lee, and CJ Ball.
 
On the Girls side, Claire Zimmerman blasted through the course in a time of 12:31 to win by a comfortable margin of 1 minute and 37 seconds over the second-place runner. Lacey Harris, Brooke Stephens, Prescilla McCracken, and Riley Parker paced the Lady Lakers. While the Lakers took 6 of the top 10 spots, they earned 2nd place in a very tight Team Standings. Berkely Rehrer, Grace Emery, Amber Benet, and Kylie Halcomb also ran outstanding races. 
 
Special Coaches Shout-outs to Catelyn Clark for knocking over 2 minutes off her previous best time on the Lakeshore course by finishing in 18:44, Jayden Quick for an outstanding week of practice and a Personal Best of 18:39, and Abigail Monteiro for her determination each and every day in practice and posting a Personal Best time yesterday. 
 
The Lakers close the 2023 Season on Monday at the Statesville Soccer Complex in the Iredell County Championship Meet. Come out and support your Running Lakers one last time!!!

 

 

LAKESHORE’S TEAMS COMPLETE SWEEP FOR THE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

The Lakers traveled to the Statesville Soccer Complex yesterday to compete in the 2023 Iredell County Middle School Championships. In dominating fashion, the Lakers were able to capture both the Boys and Girls Team Championships. The Boys started out the event in the Boys Championship Race with Nathaniel Ingram, Cody Camp, Scotty Camp, and Tyler Honig earning All-County Honors for Top 10 finishes. Ingram finished third overall with a Personal Best time of 11:48. The Camp Boys finished 5 and 6th, with Honig placing 8th, all with times under 12:00. Paxton Lawver and Oliver Nelson finished 12th and 13th to secure the Team win for Lakeshore. Excellent times were turned in with all 15 Laker runners finishing the two-mile course in under 14 minutes. 
 
On the Girls side, Claire Zimmerman led the Lady Lakers to victory by finishing 45 seconds ahead of the field to capture top honors. Claire broke the course record for women by a full second.  Lacey Harris and Brooke Stephens placed 6th and 7th to also earn All-County Honors. Riley Parker and Grace Emery finished 11th and 12th to put the Team Standings out-of-reach. Amber Benet, Prescilla McCracken, and Berkley Rehrer all placed in the Top 22 of an extremely competitive field. Paige Volpe and Kylie Halcomb also ran fantastic races for the Lakers.
 
In the B Races, Michael Mikulicz finished 4th, Brayden Brown 7th, Caden Naylor 8th, Finn Smith 9th, and Riley Yang 15th for an awesome showing with Personal Best up-and-down the roster. On the Girls’ side, Catelyn Clark led the Lady Lakers by finishing 9th with a Personal Best time of 17:14. Addison Bauernfeind, Addison Vollrath, Kelsi Davis, Kindra Reed, Jocelyn Diaz, and Addison Miller all finished with outstanding times under 20 minutes.
 
Special Coaches Shout-out to Stella Salazar for being an awesome teammate and leaving everything she had out on the course yesterday. These championships do not happen without her. The official Championship Celebration happens when she rejoins us on Wednesday!!!
 
Coach Clark, Coach Ingram, and Coach Ken could not be more proud of this group of awesome runners. Cherish this experience and always remember what hard-work and commitment result in when you fully invest yourself in a goal.
